Einer erstellt die Summe seiner Beobachtungen in dieser Welt der Patzer und Dämonen. Er vernimmt die Schreie aus den gekachelten Schreckträumen abseits einer satten Gesellschaft, die weder mit dem Laub der Bäume noch mit dem Grün der Laubfrösche noch mit den Froschaugen des Miterlebens zu schaffen haben will. Er aber hört manche, die da schreien bis ihnen die Gehirne zerspringen wie Lichtjahre, und hört andere, still vor sich Hinweinende, deren tropfende Tränen eines noch-hoffens mit dem abscheulichen Eisskalpell der Hoffnungslosigkeit seziert werden. ...

Eine absolute Überraschung. Wo der Großteil der Musikszene dem Zeitgeist hinterher läuft oder ihn verzweifelt sucht, da geht der Einzelkämpfer Marius Müller-Westernhagen einen ganz anderen Weg: Back to the roots. Rockig wie in seinen Anfangsjahren, vielleicht noch eine Spur mehr. Der Gesang intensiv wie selten zuvor, genauso wie seine Wortschöpfungen.
Erwähnenswert wäre auch noch die Gestaltung der CD in einer edlen Karton-Box mit Gottfried Helnwein-Gemälde. Ein Album, dass herausfordert! ...

Marilyn Manson a décidé de venir en aide au très controversé artiste autrichien, Gottfried Helnwein, connu pour son travail représentant l'holocauste et utilisant très fréquemment les symboles nazi.
Le chanteur a déclaré sur son site officiel qu'il était en relation avec Helnwein, qu'ils discutaient d'un "multi-media-prop chaos", tout en préparant sa nouvelle création : "The Golden Age Of Grotesque".

Kleines Helnwein, está inspirada en la estética de Gottfried Helnwein, artista plástico contemporáneo. La dura e irónica temática de su obra denuncia las consecuencias de toda una sociedad signada por la oscuridad y la hipocresía; la sociedad del propio G. Helnwein (Austria), así como las de tantas otras. Una mujer que vive como una niña; un hombre que vive como un niño; una entidad ("Kleines", es el adjetivo aleman neutro: lo pequeño) se trata de una víctima aunque también, de un posible victimario. Tal vez, en su historia, sus padres hayan ejercido abusos de poder sobre este niño/hombre o esta niña/mujer. Tal vez no hubo padres, sino una figura real side nuestro reciente pasado histórico, responsable de haber deformado a este individuo/sujeto/personaje, convirtiéndolo en un ser perverso y dulce, en un asesino posible. Kleines Helnwein no será luego una víctima. ...

A:We like to arise controversies and that is why already on the second album we decided to choose the photographs of Helnwein for our cover artwork. We really like his attitude towards art and the way he showed us. It turned out that a band picture can be something different, a real art, and not just another common, boring shot of a few people. ...
